5:30-6 p.m. Please join in the lighting of the Skagway Community Tree located at Fifth and Broadway. Santa will throw the Master Switch which will begin the season. Catch snowflakes on your nose and eyelashes. Hear Christmas Carols sung and remember how lucky we are to be living in a peaceful, safe and caring community.

6-7:30 p.m. Open House at the White Pass & Yukon Route Depot (Second & Spring)

Saturday, December 8
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Carnival at the Skagway City School (Fifteenth and Main) with hot food concession stand, gift wrapping, and a huge Christmas Craft Fair.

Noon-1 p.m. Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Carnival.

1 p.m. Cribbage at the Eagles (Sixth & Broadway) everyone welcome.

2-3:30 p.m. Free movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” (PG), at the school and concessions available. Sponsored by the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad.

7 p.m.-1 a.m. Free Yuletide Snow Ball at the Elks (Sixth & State) – everyone welcome. Family time is 7-9 p.m. Helen B. Clark Award, “Shop in Skagway” prize winners, and 50/50 raffle winners will be announced at the dance. Dress is Alaskan formal to Carhartt...

Sunday, December 9
Morning Church Services (see church directory in Skagway News)

10:45-11:00 a.m. (approx.) See off Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Ferry Terminal.

1-3 p.m. Skagway Museum (Seventh & Spring) – “Alaska Positive” photography show.

2-3:30 p.m. Free movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (PG) at the National Park Service Auditorium (Second & Broadway). Sorry, no food or drink allowed.

2-4 p.m. Drop in for tea and a short visit at some of Skagway’s historic and newest homes: Skagway Home Hostel (3rd Ave. near Main), White House B&B (8th & Main), Dimitra Lavrakas (19th Ave. near State), Erik Niebuhr (11th & Alaska), Bob Ward (aboard the "Shiraz" in boat harbor), and Martin & Linda Beckner (13th near Alaska).
