News prices increasing Jan. 1, 2014

The Skagway News has been absorbing postal rate increases for more than a decade, and with another one coming in the new year, the time has come to catch up and raise the price of the paper.

It’s a tough call, but the News retail price will jump from $1 to $1.50 on January 1. Along with this increase, subscription rates also will go up:

• Local subscriptions will increase to $30 a year.

• Out of town second class subscriptions will increase to $45 a year.

• Out of town first class subscriptions will increase to $55 a year.

• Overseas subscriptions will increase to $65 a year.

Advertising rates will remain the same but are likely to go up in 2015. - WJB
