Chilkoot Trail artist call for submissions
The Yukon Arts Center, Parks Canada, and the National Park Service are seeking submission for three visual artists – one from Canada, one from the U.S., and one regional (Yukon or Alaska resident) to participate in an international creative journey within Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park and the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site.
It starts with a hike from Dyea, Alaska and over the historic Chilkoot Trail. Over a two-week period they will interact with hikers and the scenic beauty of the area from several locations on the trail, eventually basing out of the Lindeman City, British Columbia camp managed by Parks Canada.
This is the third year of the artist residency program. There are stipends for travel and materials, as well as an honorarium.
Deadline for submissions is Feb. 1, 2013. Interested U.S. applicants may pick up a packet at KGRNHP headquarters in Skagway or visit www.nps.gov/klgo/artist-in-residence.htm .
