These turkeys have been seen hanging out on the Klondike Highway just past the Liarsville turnoff. What are they doing there?
They are wild turkeys, said owner Jackie Schaefer, a Skagway resident who lives nearby. They are free range.
Does this mean that anyone can pick one up for Thanksgiving Dinner? No, she says, They are not for sale.
Schaefer said the turkeys were hatched in an incubator.
She has received some complaints about them getting on the highway, and at least one has been hit by a vehicle.
I know people are complaining about them, but I cant catch them, she said. JB
