GUARANTEED DUNKS – Brydon Claydon had no problem hitting the target from this distance to dowse the firefighter in the dunk tank during the Skagway Volunteer Fire Department’s annual car wash and barbecue. The weather was perfect last weekend, and the event raised money for SFD scholarships and other programs. - Jeff Brady
“As I was walking down the street in front of the White House, the horse and carriage with some tourists rode by me. A couple that was walking toward me looked at the carriage and said, ‘They must all be Quakers in this town.” I just shook my head in agreement with them and just kept walking.
“I was talking to a lady from southern Mississippi today and asked her how they were dealing with the oil spill on the Gulf Coast. After explaining how devastating it will be to the fisheries, economy, etc., she asked me, ‘Well how did y’all recover after your Juan Valdez oil spill?’
“Didn’t really know what to say…maybe should’ve come back with ‘We’re still cleaning up the coffee grounds.’”
Maybe it’s the nice weather, or maybe we’ve got too many cheechakos working overtime, but whatever the reason, the wind is a little thin to start the season. It makes the windy one depressed.
