WORKING THE DOCKS

Above, tour operators from Packer Expeditions and the Klondike Gold Dredge get visitors off the Norwegian Sun pumped for a day in Skagway, after the first cruise ship of the season docked on the morning of May 6.

A “Big White” movie actor, who has played everything from a Boston bartender to a natural born killer, was advised to take some sun screen up to the pass for his day of filming on the white snow in the bright sun.
He refused.
“I’m from Malibu, man,” he reportedly said. “I don’t burn.”
Upon his return, this California boy was “Panama red” and hurting.

Overheard going into an expresso bar, “This is the nicest little town we’ve been to, except for Anchorage. That was beautiful.”
