Laura Maud Anema

Former Skagway resident Laura Maud Ann Haskin Anema, 80, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at her home in Ogden, Utah.
She was born February 20, 1931 in Skagway, a daughter of Frederic Henry and Orpha Ella Harris Haskin.
She was raised and educated in Alaska, Utah, and Idaho, graduating from St. Anthony High School in Idaho in 1949.
She married Arnold Anema on July 7, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Church and worked for Utah Tailoring Mills, Hill Air Force Base. She retired from the Defense Depot in Ogden.
Laura loved to paint, crochet, and make arts and crafts. She also enjoyed traveling.
Suriving are one son and two daughters, Robert, Toni and Shari Anema, all of Ogden; her twin brother, John P. Haskin of North Pole, AK, and one niece, Anita Haskin of Skagway.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, brother Fredrick H. Haskin Jr., and twin sons Donald and David.
Funeral services were March 18 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary and interment followed at Evergreen Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lindquistmortuary.com .

Celebration planned for Frank Wiggins April 16 in Seattle
Skagway residents are invited to join in a celebration of the life of L. Frank Wiggins on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Roy Argosy Pier 56 Main Deck in Seattle, from 1 to 4 p.m. The ship will remain docked.
Wiggins (April 2, 1927 – October 16, 2010) was based in Skagway during late 1970s and 1980s, where he ran the M/V Fairweather operation for Holland America Westours.
