Gary Danielson, president of the White Pass & Yukon Route, holds an award from Porthole Cruise Magazine, which announced in its Feb. 2008 issue that the railroad was named “Best Alaska Shore Excursion” by its editor-in-chief, Bill Panoff.
The magazine’s awards are presented annually to a select few around the world in the the cruise and travel industry “who I believe have gone above and beyond in terms of service, quality, and excellence,” Panoff wrote in a letter to Danielson.
“I think that’s a testament to all our employees, both on the train and in all facets of railroad operations, to make sure the quality of service is there,” Danielson said.
The magazine is in every state room on cruise ships sailing around the world. – JB
