EMS personnel were dispatched for a man who had fallen in the street. He refused service.
June 22
An iPod was found and brought to the police department.
June 23
EMS personnel were dispatched to the Chilkoot Trail via helicopter for four people who had eaten some poisonous plants. They were brought to the clinic and later transported to Whitehorse by ambulance.
June 24
A set of redwood stairs for a hot tub was reported stolen.
June 26
EMS personnel were dispatched for two scheduled medevacs.
June 27
A seasonal employee was arrested for DUI.
June 28
An officer was dispatched for a report of two people sleeping on the sidewalk in a residential area. And there they were. The individuals were awakened and given a ride to their campsite.
June 29
Two reports of theft were reported in the downtown area: 1) An ivory bead necklace with an Eskimo artifact pendant valued at $360; 2) An uncarved ivory tusk valued at $2000.
June 30
EMS personnel were dispatched for a scheduled medevac.
July 1
A woman called and reported that another woman stole her purse while she was using a public restroom.
July 2
An officer investigated a minor traffic accident. There were no injuries and minimal damage on both vehicles.
July 3
A man called and reported that there was a dog in his apartment and he does not have a dog. The dog was picked up and released to its owner.
July 4
A woman called and reported that she had left her purse in a restaurant and the restaurant was closed but she could see her purse inside. The owner was contacted and he let the woman in to retrieve her purse.

Officer Rick Ackerman (right) is presented an award from Police Chief Ray Leggett in appreciation for his volunteer effort restarting the DARE program at the Skagway School. The award was presented by the Police Department at the DARE graduation on April 3, 2009. The program was restarted this year thanks to municipal funding and volunteer donations. Ackerman received a round of applause from both students and parents as Leggett expressed his appreciation and said for the program to be a success it needed that “one person” willing to dedicate their time to the cause. Left, students watch short movies they made about the bad things that can happen to those who use and abuse drugs. and alcohol. Then they hit the cupcakes below.
